Our story
An experienced group of trainers in St. John's and Clarenville, using exercise, community and positivity to help people perform, look and feel better.
Founded in 2009
After a successful hockey career, Ryan Power founded Power Conditioning Inc. in 2009. His goal was to turn his passion for physical fitness and exercise physiology into a career helping high-performance athletes and fitness-seeking people thrive through every stage of life. PCI has since grown into a large co-ed community, with a coaching staff committed to a fun, inclusive and positive group fitness experience.
Our mission
PCI is committed to building a strong community centred on health, fitness, performance and longevity. We deliver progressive, effective workouts in a safe, fun and positive environment, whether your focus is athletic performance, personal fitness or general well-being.
We aim to make your time with us the best part of your day: something you look forward to, not something you have to do. No experience is required, just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and the drive to work hard.
Strength, Movement, Balance
We believe in the power of body, mind and community. Our approach also supports people managing chronic disease or injury, improves body composition, and builds a higher quality of life at any age.
Strength
A proper program builds strength and conditioning for your functional capacity: daily life, recreation or sport.
Movement
Moving well and moving often, through dynamic, full-body functional movements in coached, technique-focused sessions.
Balance
Equal weight on training, recovery, nutrition, mindset and connection with others, balancing your life toward your goals.
Ryan Power
Ryan's passion for fitness started in childhood. He played several sports, but hockey was always first: junior hockey in the OHL, QMJHL and MJAHL, varsity hockey in the AUS/CIS, then pro in the Central Hockey League and senior hockey in the CEHL and WCSHL. He was a member of the 2011 Allan Cup champion Clarenville Caribous.
After his playing career, Ryan was Director of off-ice conditioning and programming for Andrews Hockey Growth Programs in PEI. He graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island in 2005 and has since earned numerous certifications: personal trainer, fitness instructor, sports conditioning specialist and master trainer.
Whether I'm working on foundational skills with youth athletes or pushing high-performance athletes to be their best, I still find the energy to get up every work day and deliver strict programming, so these members feel a huge sense of accomplishment. I've also developed a safe but very challenging functional program for adults of all ages, where they can feel strong, confident, powerful and even fearless in any activity they choose.
Most importantly, I want to thank every member, past and present. Your support lets me keep doing what I love.
Newfoundland Regiment
PCI is the Official Strength and Conditioning Provider for the Newfoundland Regiment Hockey Club of the QMJHL. Working with the Regiment's health and performance staff through Ascend Health, Ryan brings the same results-driven methodology that has shaped athletes across the province to the highest level of junior hockey, right here at home.
It is a great honour to be named the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Newfoundland Regiment. To wear the Regiment logo, and all that it represents, is deeply meaningful.
